The 2004 Olympics was not only a major athletic event in Greece, but also formed a milestone for the development or redevelopment of many areas. In the western part of #Heraklion seafront, former industrial area, a new stadium was built and the whole seaside route from the city center (about 1,5 klm) was redeveloped with pedestrian ways and parks (recently even a dog park was added !). Many inhabitants and visitors of the city go there for walking, cycling or training, and is an upcoming place for relax and coffee walks.
